Copyrights and the 4-H photography project
This unit has gotten me thinking about the 4-H photography project and how these copyright issues effect a young photographers ownership of the pictures that they take and display at the fair. The creative commons license is something that should be included in the project and taught to the young people in the program in order to protect them and their art. This is a topic that needs to be included in the volunteer training for those who wish to work with the photography project. some of these photos could move on to state and even national photography competitions and could be used as promotional tools for 4-H or, county and state fairs and the young man or woman who took the picture should have the say as to how it is used and be educated about their rights regarding their work. I hope that other Youth Development Educators work this lesson into their photography project curriculum.
